Easy Steamed White Rice

Easy Steamed White Rice

Here’s the Recipe

Serves 4

Prep time: 30 minutes (this is just to have the rice soak but by all means, if you are in a rush, you can cut the soaking time in half)

Cook time: 20 minutes

Total time: 50 minutes

Ingredients:

1 cup white rice

1 cup water (for added flavor, you can sub for chicken, vegetable, or beef stock)

Directions:

  1. Measure 1 cup of rice and rinse in a mesh strainer.
  2. Soak the rice in water for 30 minutes (no biggie if you have to cut that time down).
  3. Once soaked, drain the rice and add the rice to the pot. Add 1 cup of water. Place on the stove, covered, over high heat.
  4. Once boiling, reduce heat to medium for 5 minutes (make sure it doesn’t boil over, but do not take off the lid!).
  5. After 5 minutes, reduce heat to low for 10 minutes.
  6. After 10 minutes, remove from heat and let sit for 5 minutes.
  7. Fluff with a fork and serve with any protein or mix it with a stir fry. Enjoy!

Inspiration:

I don’t know about you, but my family LOVES white rice. I mean the sticky white rice you can get from your favorite Chinese takeout restaurant. Through all of my cooking research online, I have learned how to make a quick and easy way to make sticky white rice if you don’t have a rice cooker and need to use the stove top. This is one of my go-to side dishes for most of our meals because of how quick and easy the cooking is, and it helps that it can go with EVERYTHING (especially saucy dishes!).
