The BEST Deviled Eggs

The BEST Deviled Eggs

Here’s the recipe:

Serves: 4-5

Prep time: 5 minutes

Cook time: 40 minutes (not including time for eggs to cool in fridge)

Total time: 45 minutes

Ingredients:

8 eggs

1/2 tablespoon white vinegar

2 tablespoons mustard

1/2 cup mayonnaise

Salt to taste

Pepper to taste

Pickles (optional)

Bacon (optional)

Paprika (optional)

Directions:

  1. Fill a pot with water and put on medium high heat. Bring to a boil.
  2. Once boiling, add in the eggs carefully.
  3. Cook for 15 minutes.
  4. Drain immediately and add eggs to an ice bath.
  5. Transfer to fridge for 2 hours to cool (This helps them peel but not necessary if in a rush. Just make sure to keep in the ice bath for as long as possible.)
  6. Peel eggs.
  7. Slice eggs in half and remove yolk and place in separate bowl. Set whites on serving platter.
  8. Mix mayonnaise, mustard, vinegar, salt, and pepper together with the yolks.
  9. Add yolk mixture to a ziplock baggie and cut off the one of the bottom tips (this helps with piping the yolk mixture into the whites, but you can just use a spoon as well)
  10. Pipe/spoon the yolk mixture into the whites as evenly as you can.
  11. From here, you can chill in the fridge for at least an hour before serving or you can add toppings. The bacon, pickles, and paprika are for toppings for 3 different flavors. Add as much of each as you would like if you want to top them.
  12. Serve and enjoy!

Inspiration:

I have always LOVED hard boiled eggs, especially deviled eggs. They are my favorite BBQ appetizer. Since being pregnant for the second time, I have been craving them like crazy! It is mostly the vinegar and acid that I have been craving. I just can’t get enough mustard and vinegar based sauces and dressings!!

I decided to make these for this past 4th of July when we had our friends Colleen and Rodney over to celebrate. I wanted to test out a couple new toppings so I made the classic deviled eggs with paprika and then added a twist with the bacon and pickles to the other eggs. They were all delicious!! Colleen even texts me know saying that she is craving them!

I have to say, if you are in a pinch for an appetizer during the summer months, these must be a go to! With labor day coming up and more BBQs to happen before the end of summer, you are definitely going to want to try these babies out. It won’t disappoint!
